Hiiii Reader,
Here's my favorite little email-writing-tip:
Write up your email, then go back to the beginning and delete the first few sentences.
No doubt, it'll catch your reader's attention better.
I was reminded of this tip last week when listening to my new favorite podcast: The Moth.β
The Moth presents real people telling their real stories live on a stage, no notes (the podcast airs the live recordings).
Even though some topics could seem mundane...
The stories are SO GOOD because the people have practiced the art of storytelling.
And as I listen to more and more GOOD stories, I'm reminded of the elements of storytelling that I should be using in my own writing.
For example, I didn't start this email with a recap of my weekend, how freakin' hot it is outside, or general business banter.
I jumped into it - Here's my favorite little email-writing tip...
So today's takeaway ππ½ Listen to good stories so you can write better stories. Remove the fluff. Jump into the action.
That's it, that's the email.
And go listen to The Moth on Apple or Spotify or Amazon or wherever else you listen to podcasts.β
I don't like moths but I do like The Moth,
