So, I rewatched The Nightmare Before Christmas this weekend (again).
And it hit me… Jack Skellington is the poster child for bad branding decisions. 😂
He’s the Pumpkin King - adored, respected, totally crushing it in Halloween Town - until he decides he’s bored.
So what does he do? He tries to rebrand himself as Santa Claus.
Chaos ensues. 🎄💀
The presents are terrifying! Santa’s kidnapped! Kids everywhere are emotionally scarred!
All because Jack tried to copy someone else’s magic instead of amplifying his own.
...which is the same mistake I see a lot of business owners make in their marketing.
They start chasing what’s trendy - someone else’s tone, format, or “secret strategy” - and slowly lose the thing that made their brand special.
Here’s the truth:
👉 You can’t out-Christmas Santa.
You can only make Halloween more magical.
So how do you “be original” without forcing it?
You find it — by turning the volume back up on what’s already you.
Try this:
🎃 Notice what people always comment on in your content — your humor, warmth, bluntness, whatever it is. That’s your signature spice.
🎃 Stop studying everyone else’s feed. You can’t create your flavor if you’re taste-testing everyone else’s.
🎃 Add the human bits. The messy, funny, too-real moments no AI can fake.
🎃 Say the quiet thing out loud. That’s where originality hides.
You don’t have to invent something new... you just have to express something only you could.
✨ The magic isn’t in copying the trend.
It’s in owning your own holiday.
