I was texting my brother yesterday about the app I'm developing (yes, it’s consuming 97% of my brain cells right now).
This was the convo:
In a nutshell, Premium users get what they want in a simple email. Free users have to open the app to get the info they need.
Fast forward to 4:05 a.m. this morning… and I’m lying awake, still thinking about this. 😂
Here’s the thing: a lot of us default to giving away our best stuff for free... for the sake of ENGAGEMENT!!!! ✊🏼 or BUILDING TRUST!!!! ✊🏼
Your best template, a course module, that one strategy people really want.
But if it’s the thing your audience wants most? Don’t gift it. Gate it.
And maybe make your freebie some little teaser about it.
But the thing they want, what they really, really want? 🎤
👉 Put it inside a digital product.
👉 Or behind a membership or course login.
👉 Or making it the “premium” version of what you already share for free.
Think Spotify: you can listen to music for free. But if you want to skip ads and play anything you want on demand, you pay.
And millions of us (🙋♀️) happily hand over $12/month.
Free builds the relationship. Gated builds your business.
So, Reader, ask yourself:
✨ What’s the #1 “want” your people can’t resist?
✨ And are you giving it away… or gating it so your business actually grows?
Or just ask yourself...
what do they want, do they really really want?
Make sure you're getting paid for it. And maybe you'll make the big bucks. 💰
